Our off district wildland fire team is available to respond to forest fires across the country. We have had members assist with fire suppression as close as the Prescott National Forest and as far away as New Jersey.
All members of the off-district team hold red card certification as a result of specialized training in wildland firefighting.
Over the last two fire season, 2002 and 2003, the wildland off district teams responded to 46 assignments . The majority of these have been in Arizona, however, in addition they have traveled to California, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Utah, South Dakota, and Texas.
The majority of these assignments required the team to be away for 21 days at a minimum which requires dedication and family support.
