| Operations * Training and Professional Development |
The Training Division is overseen by a Training Chief and a staff that includes one full-time Training Captain, three part time Training Captains, and a part-time Office Assistant. The focus of the Training Division is to coordinate pertinent, and quality training topics for fire suppression personnel via the training academy, station and computer based training and off site training venues. This training must emphasize the importance of compliance with OSHA, NFPA Standards, ISO Standards and various federal, state and local laws and regulations. These training programs include:
- Monthly and quarterly engine company training on fire suppression and basic hazardous materials, wildland fire and technical rescue topics
- Driver/Operator training
- Mandatory OSHA, NFPA and ISO training
- Officer development
- Reserve Firefighter Academy
- Online training materials and programs
- Vehicle extrication training
- Weapons of mass destruction/terrorism training
- Cooperative regional drills and classes with other public safety agencies

| The staff continues to review new safety practices, equipment, methods, technology and topics that will ensure and improve emergency response. The Training Division staff is involved in the: |
- Development of programs
- Revision of existing curriculum
- Maintenance of Instructor skills
- Acquisition of new materials
- Participation in applicant and promotional testing
